Zhejiang Environmental Protection Bureau was established in April 1981, which is directly controlled by the provincial government and became one of the provincial government departments in the institutional reform in2009 which is responsible for environmental protection. Its main duties are: •Carrying out and implement the national laws and regulations on environmental protection, formulating the relevant ordinances and standards of Zhejiang province and supervising its implementation; •Formulating the environmental protection program and plan of Zhejiang province, involving in developing Zhejiang economic and social development program; •Responsible for implementing the nation’s and the province’s emission reduction targets; •Responsible for supervision and management on environmental pollution prevention and control; •Instructing, coordinate and supervise the ecological protection work; •Responsible for supervision and management on radiation environment safety and offsite emergency work for nuclear accident; •Responsible for environmental supervision and inspection work; •Responsible for environmental monitoring and information release; •Developing science, technology and international cooperation on environmental protection; •Responsible for public acceptance on environmental protection. •The bureau has 12 divisions and 9 affiliated enterprises.
